The acclaimed English actor Helen Mirren, already holder of an Oscar, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, plus a Tony, will soon receive another prestigious accolade to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

Award Event

Mirren, octogenarian, previously honored as a dame back in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will accept the accolade during a presentation on 8 January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event occur, as part of a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as the Golden Eve event.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for TV work, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as an unstoppable talent, and her professional journey is truly exceptional,” said the organization’s president, Helen Hoehne. “Her captivating roles and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It’s a tremendous privilege to present her with the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

Mirren gained prominence during the seventies via important performances on stage in London’s theater district and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her lead performance in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity further. Additional notable movies feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 within The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters involving the monarch and prime minister Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.
